Awards

We are delighted that the 2011 Film Nation Shorts Awards Ceremony took place on Tuesday 25th October at Village Underground in Shoreditch, East London.

The host on the day was none other than TV's own Rick Edwards! Rick was only too pleased to get involved:-

'With the Olympic Games less than a year away, this initiative is an ideal way to show young people throughout the UK how they can get involved with London 2012. It's not just about the sport, there's so much exciting culture taking place - it's a chance to show the very best side of London and British life.

'Filmmaking can be a really effective way to demonstrate creativity and given the high standard of entries in the competition, young people around the country are definitely embracing it as a platform to express themselves. The awards ceremony will be a brilliant showcase - it's going to be a nightmare trying to pick the winners!'

Rick was on hand, alongside many other figures from the world of film and sport, to give out the prizes on the big day. Keep your eyes peeled here for more updates and news from the awards.

Thanks to all of you who got your films in for the short film competiton. Don't worry though, if you didn't get your film in on time. All films entered from now until 2nd April 2012 will be in contention for our final awards ceremony, due to take place in the run up to the Olympic Games next year.

2010 Awards Ceremony

In December 2010, the first annual Film Nation Shorts Awards took place at the IMAX Cinema at Millennium Point in Birmingham.

The most viewed and best rated films entered on the Film Nation Shorts website were shortlisted into a range of categories and then judged by a host of  industry figures.

All nominees and figures from the worlds of film and sport turned up for the ceremony, which was hosted by TV star Kirsty Gallagher and the Inbetweeners’ Simon Bird.

The presenters of the awards included actors Oliver and James Phelps (Harry Potter series), Freddie Highmore (Charlie & the Chocolate Factory) and Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting) and sports stars Kelly Sotherton, Leon Taylor and Sharon Davies.

The winning films will be shown at locations across the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 and on big screens around the UK.
