Harry Potter star Jessie Cave surprised young filmmakers in Waltham Forest in East London at a recent Film Nation Shorts free filmmaking workshop.
Jessie, who plays the Ron Weasley-obsessed Lavender Brown in the hit film series, called into the Active Change Foundation to join in our first 3D workshop. With expert guidance, the group of around fifteen were shown all the technical aspects of camera and sound work, and then encouraged to come up with a short film idea, which they then shot and edited, all in the space of one day.
The film they make will be entered into our competition. Take a look at our ‘Watch Entries’ section to see more of the films made at the workshops.
As well as Jessie’s appearance, the really exciting thing about this workshop was the introduction to 3D filmmaking. Panasonic gave us some of their brand new 3D technology to play with allowing those who turned up the chance to cut their teeth with the newest chapter in cinema – 3D.
Keep your eye on the ‘What’s On’ section to find out when the next workshop will be taking place near you.
This workshop took place as part of the Five Boroughs / Five Workshops initiative, where five free filmmaking workshops took place over five consecutive days, within each of the five host boroughs of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
